expires are forever?
gpg: NOTE: signature key expired Thu Jul 20 05:33:42 2000 CDT

This key had no expiry, then (several days ago) I changed it to expire
today. Later the same day, I thought better of that, and changed it
back to 'never'. That appears not to have worked, although something
thinks that it did.

Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

Sorry; I figured it out. The "signature key" message refers to a
signing key of the (unexpired) key in question.
