Snapshots and rsync
Hi,

I(*) have setup an anonymous rsync server and it is now possible to
get a snapshot of the current CVS head revision to reduce the load of
the CVS server.

rsync ftp.gnupg.org::

lists the modules.

FTP and WWW mirrors should take advantage of this new service.

Thanks,

Werner

(*) Thanks to Jens who really did this.

Cool. But is there any chance of re-config'ing rsyncd to allow a ro
rsync of the cvs repository itself, rather than just the snapshot of
HEAD? It is a substantial improvement to be able to use a local copy
of the repository. Apache, mod_ssl, OpenSSL, KDE, OpenLDAP, INN and
postgresql, zB, all use this model, via either cvsup or rsync.

The problem with that is, that I have to setup a ro mirror of the cvs
to work around the locking issues.
