i couldn't get the 5336 to work with 2.6.9 emerge the ~x86 version.
modprobe nvidia
lsmod (make sure the module is loaded)
emerge the x~86 version of nvidia-glx
opengl-update nvidia
startx

RE: nvidia: Unknown symbol _VMALLOC_RESERVE (SOLVED ) [ In reply to ]
I added nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx to /etc/portage/package.keywords.
Then,
emerge nvidia-kernel
modprobe -a nvidia
emerge nvidia-glx
opengl-update nvidia

Then it worked fine.

Hi

I would like to know how this problem its solved please . I have the same
issue. I am not able to load nvidia at all and now I use the generic NV. I
have the same kernel-2.6.9 but I compile it with Stak of 4k instead of 8K.
Will this affect on something?

Thanks
