nvidia 6111, xorg 6.8 and 2.6.8 kernel
Has anyone else experienced problems running the nvidia 6111 drivers
with xorg 6.8 and the 2.6.8 kernel? When mys system starts, I get the
nvidia splash screen, but then the bottom 3/4 of my screen turns
bright white. The system eventually stops the process and goes back to
the vt, but the screen is very dark. If I reboot in single user mode,
the brightness is fine. the nv driver is working fine. The X log
tells me that the nvidia is initialized, but no usable screens are
found. I haven't changed the settings from my old nvidia driver, so I
have no idea whats wrong. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I am having problems something like this, but not exact. I finally had to
re-emerge synaptics and now my old xorg.conf worksagain.. check to make sure
all your special drivers have been recompiled with your new kernel.

My old nvidia drivers worked with this kernel and xorg version. I had
xorg 6.8 and the 2.6.8 kernel running _before_ i emerged the new
nvidia driver. I'm sorry if I was unclear.

You could try nvidia-kernel-1.0.6111-r2 (still ~arch). See bug 65455:

Hope this helps.
