FATAL: Error inserting floppy (<path>floppy.ko): No such device
I've just installed the latest 2.6.8 kernel on 2 machines (Athlon-XP and
AMD64) which both give the same message in /var/log/messages:

modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting floppy
(/lib/modules/2.6.8-gentoo-r3/kernel/drivers/block/floppy.ko): No such
device

Am I doing something wrong in my kernel config, or is this a bug?

I posted a question on the AMD64 area recently - they thought it was a bug,
but I wonder if there's a problem with my config - they were almost
identical for both systems exept that the AMD64 is compiled for that
system.

Thanks for help (in advance).

IIRC that was floating around the kernel mailing list a few days ago.
You should check the archives. Seemed to have been a bug I think. Also
check bugs.g.o.
