GNOME Sound Dead... after Firefox Update
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello all.

I am having some trouble with my sound in GNOME. I updated the
mozilla-firefox package three days ago, which updated a bunch of other
packages along with it. I then went out of town... so it took me a
little bit to start to understand what might have happened.
Today, when I booted the system and GNOME started, the sound mixer icon
(in the toolbar) does not show up -- and, sure enough, the sound is
dead. When I run 'alsamixer' all the sound levels are up (Master = 100,
PCM = 81, ADC & DAC = 100) where they should be.
I tried telling GNOME to "start [it's] sound server" in the
preferences. That didn't help.
ALSA is compiled into the kernel (2.6) and I have it set to start at
boot. When I boot the system, I see no errors as the modules initialize.

Thanks for any help!

Nick
