Thinking to use only binary packages and get away from massive
compiling I ran:
emerge -g -u kde
I've been watching the compile for 10 minutes already.
(This was a very basic newly installed system)
Rereading man emerge it appears those commands should have pulled down
and installed binary packages.
The man page clearly says that -g implies -k.
What am I not understanding here? I'd like to get a system up without
all the unnecessary waste of time in compiling every last jot an
tittle.
