When emerging kde I had the USE flag set for alsa but I get an error that the
sound cannot be started --/dev/dsp: no such device.

I have re-emerged alsa and enabled the KDE applet ...and according to the
applet the sound is working when I click on the 'Test Sound' button in
Control Center. What gives?
