XFree 4.4.0
i'm trying to use this to troubleshoot some odd display problems i had with
xorg; i've built from source and installed, rebooted just to make sure
and then tried to launch the config tool. here's what i get:

teh bin # ./xf86cfg: error while loading shared libraries:
libxkbui.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

thanks,

Patrick

~ $ etcat -b libxkbui ## Do a search for that
file to see what package installs it

Searching for libxkbui in * ...
x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0 ## It's installed from the base package

------------------

I did a search and found the files here:
/usr/X11R6/lib/libxkbui.so
/usr/X11R6/lib/libxkbui.so.1
/usr/X11R6/lib/libxkbui.so.1.0
/usr/X11R6/lib/libxkbui.a

I'd check to see if the file is in that directory:
If so, maybe putting the directory in your PATH will resolve that issue
Else re-emerge xorg and try again, heh.

I don't know if install XFree is a good idea... all the X packages
depends of xorg... i.e. if you want install kde it will tell you that
it needs xorg to work and it will only modifiy xorg conf files... and
so on... What was your problem with xorg?

Are you saying Gentoo has now integrated use of xorg? If so, I'll be
installing the ppc distro asap. :)

dunno with the ppc distro (I don't have a ppc to play with, if not I
will ;))... the x86 uses by default xorg, and XFree will be remove
from the portage tree next year... if I remember well the news that I
read about it... I'm using XOrg right now and it works ok!... no
issues so far...

Re: XFree 4.4.0 [ In reply to ]
Is xorg used by the regular distribution, or only 2004.2? Thanks.
