Maybe an opportunity there for you, as a spakie of course!

Yeah, but everyone knows that Microsoft makes better hardware than software.

Doesn't Microsoft just rebadge other people's hardware? I heard their
mice come from Logitech (don't know if the source of the info was
reliable), and that the XBox is just a collection of other people's
hardware (ie. Intel chip, nVidia card).

Well not entirely. They do product design and engineering over and above whatever they might OEM as well as binding the hardware controls to their software.

Good Lord! No other hardware makers in the industry would ever get away with that.

Nope the ACTIVE-X components and their interaction with internet
explorer *_MUST BE//IS_* a universewide patent. Nobody else could have
thought of that! Not even some worms from MARS...

Security is the primary concern for microsoft. They are really
concerned to provide you no security.

Rocks baby...

oh I thought they were a software maker. Explains why windows is crap.

Here's a website dedicated to running Linux on the XBox. It has a lot of
information.

http://www.xbox-linux.org/

Absolutely...

Yes. It has USB connectors on it for keyboard and mouse.

Early ones had 8gig, newones are 10gig but only use 8 to emulate early models.

I'd go here first: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbox-linux/
Then google is your friend after that. If you really want to get a taste of
just how much hacking goes on with the Xbox, go to the sourceforge main page
and do a simple search for xbox. Really a hoot.

Cheers.

It's the console game controller...the thing with joysticks and buttons.
Retail, they are about $30.00 (us).

You can do this in many different ways. You can buy a blank chip, burn a
special boot image on it and solder it to the main Xbox board.. There are
models that "clip" to an I.C. on the main board... etc.
