Hi,
Im having problems that are X related... mozilla/etc/etc all barf on
some web pages (with international character sets I think) with the
following barfage:
Visiting:
http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Main_Page
Crashes out with:
korg@rahu ~ $ firefox
/usr/lib/MozillaFirefox/mozilla-xremote-client: Error: Failed to find
a running server.
No running windows found
<visit the url>
The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadGlyphSet (invalid GlyphSet parameter)'.
(Details: serial 94617 error_code 176 request_code 152 minor_code
24)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported
asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)
firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (1)
Now, it _isnt_ a fire fox thing because im running remotly (ie, it
only displays to my ppc64, this is firefox running off an x86 and it
also barfs, where as its stable if displaying to the x86 display)
(Same behaviour with ppc32 firefox, ok on ppc32 machine, barfs on
ppc64).
I built a ppc32 gentoo chroot on my ppc64 and I can run X and visit
http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Main_Page without it crashing.
Rebuilding X doesnt fix it.
So it seems to be an xorg-x11 / ppc64 problem...
Has anyone had anything like this?
Anyone have any ideas?
Google sint very helpful on RenderBadGlyphSet errors.
Im about to try rebuilding Xorg -unicode... ? maybe that will fix it?
