MIPS32 little-endian softfloat Gentoo rootfs update Nov 2014
Hello,

I've again uploaded another snapshot of a little-endian softfloat MIPS32 rootfs
I maintain for a few of my MIPS toys.

It's a complete gentoo installation, with toolchain and a few lightweight
desktop environments as well as some networking tools.

See the readme at [1] for more information. (In short: updated toolchain
to latest git heads, including llvm, and updated all packages to portage
snapshot from 2014-11-16).

Grab the tarball at [2], and if you're curious, file and individual
package listingsare at [3] and [4]. Binary packages are at [5], drop
them at the root of
the filesystem.

I doubt it would require much effort, if there is sane bootloader, kernel,
then it should simple as it is..
have you heard of the story of how to put elephant into fridge?
it is three steps: a) open the door of fridge b) put elephant in c)
close the door
same as how to run Gentoo in mips hardware

I think the PIC32 are just microcontroller which speak MIPS, they have no MMU
and as far as I can see there's no mips linux port for this kind of
configuration.
I doubt you could even uclibc-based distros on them since there's no linux-y OS
for this hardware (yet).

This sounds interesting. Has anyone run the gentoo mips32 on a Microchip
mips 32?

If so, I'd like to hear your experiences.

If not, what would the minimum amount of ram be required (suggested) run
run the gentoo embedded mips code on a 32 bit Microchip mips processors?

curiously,
