Hi,

I have written a tutorial
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Phytec_phyCORE-iMX35/Gentoo/Desktop
how to cross-compile Gentoo Linux for the board Phytec phyCORE-i.MX35
http://www.phytec.com/products/rdk/ARM-XScale/phyCORE-ARM11i.MX35.html
and use it there.

The board phyCORE-i.MX35 has a Freescale i.MX35x CPU with an ARM11 core.

I hope the tutorial is useful.
