Joining GDP?
Hi guys,

I would like to join the GDP and see what I can do to improve
our documentation. One of the things I plan to do is write a
more extensive document on how users can contribute. And
I'm willing to take on some other task as well. Is there
anything else you need from me before I can join the team?

Cheers,

Hi Ben,

Thanks for you offer.
Just look for bugs assigned to docs-team and submit patches or comments to b.g.o
You'll find extra information on gdp.gentoo.org
Just ask if you have any question, try #gentoo-doc (still in use?) on IRC or
use this mailing list.

Cheers,

I'm not Ben and not a dev, but perhaps my answer will save someone else
the trouble, and they can use the time to fix something...

GDP is Gentoo Documentation Project, the ones behind most but not all of
the various documentation you can find at the appropriate page on the web
site, etc.

Other similar shorthand notations include "rel" as "relations" when used
as a suffix (userrel, devrel) and as "release" when used as a prefix
(releng, release engineering), GLEP, Gentoo Linux Enhancement Proposals
(our form of the RFCs that form the Internet standards process), GLSA
(Gentoo Linux Security Advisory)... very likely others I've missed.

Of course, Gentoo is far from alone in developing its own lingo,
unfortunately sometimes confusing to the "uninitiated", see the various
professional communities, all of which tend to have their own lingo.
Luckily, someone can usually explain if you ask. =:^)

Yes, most of us still keep idling in there.
