Unrouteable domain or not?
I've just upgraded from exim3 to exim4.05 and currently I'm watching
the logs carefully to see if everything's working (which by and large
it is). There are some things going on however I don't understand.

Take the following log entries. The first recipient (msg 17URfp)
(which is a forward from our system), fails saying the domain
processrequest.com is unrouteable. Yet the following 2 messages
(17URfP and 17URfQ) work fine. What's going on here? Why is
processrequest.com unrouteable for the first user but not for the
other two (paranoia: have I fouled up somewhere in converting from
exim3->4).

Not your problem.

The host dirc.bris.ac.uk can't route the domain 'ProcessRequest.com',
and so rejects the sender. Why it can't route that domain is its
problem, not yours. The other hosts either can route it, or are not
checking senders.

The domain seems perfectly OK.

oh of course! I should read the log entries more carefully... (slap
on forehead).

Thanks!

Is dirc.bris.ac.uk under your control? That's the MTA that doesn't
like "ProcessRequest.com" (doesn't matter if it's spelt with u/c or
l/c).

According to DNS, the mail exchange record for that domain is
mail.processrequest.com. What are you trying to do here? Relay mail?

Yes, this isnt exim telling you that the domain is unroutable, its
telling you that the remote server at dirc.bris.ac.uk gave an error
which said "550 Unrouteable domain 'ProcessRequest.com'

This is something which that host (dirc.bris.ac.uk) needs to figure
out.
