I have seen content sensitive networks before now - specifically an ISDN
line which dropped when multiple X characters were sent across it (which
meant that someones love letters kept dropping the connection).

This may be hard to replicate since it also requires you packetise the
data in a similar way.

I think we do need to see the trace for this. You can send it directly
to me if you do not want to attach it to this bug.

Was the message being delivered without using TLS? Was the tcpdump captured on
the machine doing the sending?

If the answers to those questions are both yes, presumably it should be trivial
to examine the tcpdump and determine whether or not Exim is doing the right
thing.
