How about making something more general and allowing an ACL like structure to
determine what ESMTP facilities you will support. This could be handled on both
accept and send sides.

Add hosts_avoid_pipelining option

This should suffice. It would be even shorter if we skip logging the fact that
PIPELINING wasn't used because of this option.

An ACL-like structure for outgoing SMTP transmissions? Wouldn't that be rather
big? Would you like to explain more?

There have been some suggestions regarding incoming mail. See bug 242 and bug
372.
