Mailing List Archive: Problems on Win2K

When I run ethereal on my win2K system I get an error message:

"Unable to open adapter"

error message. My network settings include:

"Packet Capture Driver v2.02"

When I run windump -D I get

1.\Device\Packet_{2A7BE155-7245-4F23-BD2C-9C286326B4DC} ()
2.\Device\Packet_{40593047-462B-4772-99D0-4DC7EBE8A744} ()

Running windump:

windump: listening on\Device\Packet_{2A7BE155-7245-4F23-BD2C-9C286326B4DC}
windump: Error opening adapter

but when running windump -i 2 it works fine. I think the first device
reported by Windump is a VPN connection I run to connect to another machine.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

The fact that the adapters does not have description means that the drivers
was not able to install it properly.

VPN adapters are not supported.
