dbmail 3.1.17: crash dbmail-imapd
Hello,

system:
dbmail 3.1.17
Debian 7 with last updates

the last two days dbmail-imapd frequently falls, and the error log for
the following message:

> dbmail-imapd: dm_string.c:161: p_string_erase: Assertion `pos + len
<= S->used' failed.

it happens on several servers.
I tried to recompile dbmail after an upgradesystem.

I've never seen these. Just guessing, but perhaps you are using a high
optimization during compilation. Try compiling without any optimization
flags.

I'm having the same problem on a patched Ubuntu 12.04 LTS system.

../configure --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var/run/dbmail
--sysconfdir=/etc/dbmail --with-sieve=/usr
make
make install

I'm not using any optimizations at all.

Anyone have any ideas? Could this be a database thing. It looks like
it's happening when firefox tries to save a copy of a message to the
sent folder.

Curtis, are you seeing this on 3.2.3 as well?

Re: dbmail 3.1.17: crash dbmail-imapd [ In reply to ]
I haven't tried to run 3.2.3. I can't seem to download it. The button for
the download is not working on my browser (latest and greatest firefox.)
I'm downloading as I type this. Chrome seems to work. At any rate. I
recompiled again and the errors have changed, but I still have them. I'm
beginning to think it's a database problem, but here are the errors that
occured overnight. I'm answering this from my gmail account since I can't
seem to keep imap running on my server. I have to restart it frequently.
Some of this could be due to backups running during the night and tables
getting locked. The size of the database is 22GB. MySQL also restarts
every morning.

3.2.3 broke authentication. Not too happy these days.

Re: dbmail 3.1.17: crash dbmail-imapd [ In reply to ]
OK, managed to get this working and it seems stable with 3.2.3. The
login_disabled must be set to no (it apparently defaults to yes) in order
to keep authentication from being broken.
