On inspection, it looks like the adding of ACLs and such to dbmail's
imap capabilities paves the way for people to use Bynari's Insight
Connector.
For a "free" setup allowing usage of the collaboration features of
Outlook, you've got two options:
1. Build a server that speaks the same RPC dialect as Exchange
2. Build a MAPI connector for Outlook that speaks your server's
language.
It's been said that 1 is difficult to get happening (according to Nat
from Ximian).
It's also been said that 2 isn't particularly easy (as evidenced by
http://otlkcon.sourceforge.net/).
I am a competent C coder, but reverse-engineering is totally new to me.
