Summary: pop3 daemon leaks sockets' filedescriptors
Description:
lsof -p 12345 reports:
dbmail-po 30236 dbmail 43u sock 0,7 0t0 14855254
can't identify protocol
dbmail-po 30236 dbmail 44u sock 0,7 0t0 14855656
can't identify protocol
dbmail-po 30236 dbmail 45u sock 0,7 0t0 14855262
can't identify protocol
dbmail-po 30236 dbmail 46u sock 0,7 0t0 14861487
can't identify protocol
The number of sockets keeps rising, until the ulimit for filedescriptors
is hit and accept() cannot create a new socket because of it.
I've worked around by setting a very high limit and do a scheduled pop3
daemon restart.
