iPhone timezone issue
hi list,

another issue i have is, the zimezones in iOS seem completely ignored.

for example if i get an invite from the US (UTC-5) and i accept it here
(UTC+1) with an US-starttime of 10.00 o'clock my thunderbird schows the
event correctly at 16.00 o'clock while the iPhone (iOS-8.1) ignores
timezone and shows it at 10.00 o'clock.

i played around with the iPhone-settings, but i can't configure much on the
iPhone. only the automatic timezone detection can be disabled, which i
tried and did a fixed setting for timezone 'Berlin' but that didn't change
anything.

in the davical settings i have some TZ-translations:
'W. Europe' => 'Europe/Berlin',
'W. Europe Standard Time' => 'Europe/Berlin',
'Berlin' => 'Europe/Berlin',
'Mitteleurop\xc3\xa4ische Zeit' => 'Europe/Berlin',
'Mitteleurop¦ische Zeit' => 'Europe/Berlin',
'(UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)' => 'America/New_York',
'Eastern Standart Time' => 'America/New_York'

any hints how to configure iPhone or davical to to make timezone-support
work with the iPhone?

cheers,
chris

Re: iPhone timezone issue [ In reply to ]
Hi Chris,

I have been having a similar problem. For me, it seems to make a
difference what program I use to accept the event. If I accept it with
Thunderbird/Lightning, the time zone problem occurs (I'm in California,
and if I accept a meeting from someone on the US East Coast, it shows on
my iPhone three hours late). But if I accept the meeting using Calendar
on my Mac, the time zone is handled correctly. So I have been doing that
as a workaround, but have been meaning to dig into this problem further.

The strange thing is that, if I accept the meeting with
Thunderbird/Lightning, it shows up in the wrong timezone on my iPhone
but correctly in Calendar on my Mac. So even Apple products aren't
consistent on this.

I have been meaning to print and analyze dumps of incorrect and correct
calendar events from my database, but since I have a workaround it has
been a low priority.

Please let me know if you find out any more about this problem, and I
will do the same.
