T1 PRI options
I've just ordered 2 new PRIs to be terminated on a NM-HDV-2T1-48.
The carrier is asking me to fill out an order sheet with several options I'm
unfamiliar with as I'm from the UK, where if I order an E1 with Q.931
signaling that's about it...

I suggested they use the defaults as I'm confident I can configure the
router to work with whatever they deliver, but that won't wash with them, so
what are your suggestions for:

Signaling type - wink or immediate
Outpulsing - DTMF or MF
Framing, B8ZS or AMI / ES or ESF

TIA

The signal and outpulsing type sound like they are trying to set you up with
a RBS (CAS) service like e&m. These have nothing to do with PRI. You might
want to explain to them that you want PRI.

The framing and line coding generally will be ESF/B8ZS.

Thank you all for your responses. Consensus was telco sales people are
clueless, BZ8S & ESF are the way to go the other options don't apply anyhow.

Simon,

Sounds like the telco is trying to sell you a T1-CAS (rather than CCS) circuit. DTMF/MF have no place in ISDN call signaling, though framing b8zs and linecode esf are the most common.

VoIP with Common Channel Signaling (CCS) (explains both):

Cheers,
