Hi Mr.Cisco

Does anyone know it ?
And how to know GSR to reach the bottleneck ?

Thanks
Micky

Hi Pierfrancesco Caci

Do you know how to get the value via snmp(oid number) ?

Thanks
Micky

RE: [nsp] How to see GSR linecard cpu loading ? [ In reply to ]
Check out:

ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISCO-PROCESS-MIB.my

I think it was added in 21S (for the LC cpus).

Btw, in case you're not aware, the LC cpu is the primary forwarding path
for only some of the GSR engines (eg engine 0 and 1). Engine 2's (and
above) primary forwarding path is through an asic so the LC cpu is more
dedicated to processing things like cef updates, netflow stuff and
various other things.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi...

CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.1 = INTEGER: 0
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.2 = INTEGER: 69
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.3 = INTEGER: 74
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.4 = INTEGER: 46
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.5 = INTEGER: 56
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.6 = INTEGER: 65
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.7 = INTEGER: 63
CISCO-PROCESS-MIB::cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex.9 = INTEGER: 51

How do I match this to the actual slot on the router ? Is there a
different MIB that will provide me this info? I did a walk of the
entire ciscoprocessmyb and I couldn't find it.

Thanks again

IOS version must be 12.0.21 at least, as I understand.

The CISCO-PROCESS-MIB says the following about the
cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex:

cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX EntPhysicalIndexOrZero
MAX-ACCESS read-only
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"The entPhysicalIndex of the physical entity for which
the CPU statistics in this entry are maintained.
The physical entity can be a CPU chip, a group of CPUs,
a CPU card etc. The exact type of this entity is described by
its entPhysicalVendorType value. If the CPU statistics
in this entry correspond to more than one physical entity
(or to no physical entity), or if the entPhysicalTable is
not supported on the SNMP agent, the value of this object
must be zero."
::= { cpmCPUTotalEntry 2 }

Note that this is not the actual index of the cpuCPUTotalTable, but a
column that could be used to associate a CPU with a "physical entity"
as described in the ENTITY-MIB. Whether this has been implemented
according to spec is another question. On all systems I tried (but I
don't have GSRs), either the ENTITY-MIB wasn't implemented at all, or
it was but all cpmCPUTotalPhysicalIndex values were zero anyways.

Ok, after downloading all the CISCO-ENTITY... MIBs, I have been able
to get this, on a 12416 running 12.0.21ST4

# snmpbulkwalk -v 2c -c xxx mil6 entPhysicalTable | grep 69

ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalContainedIn.71 = INTEGER: 69
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalContainedIn.72 = INTEGER: 69
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalContainedIn.73 = INTEGER: 69
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalClass.69 = INTEGER: module(9)
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalParentRelPos.69 = INTEGER: 1
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalName.69 = STRING: slot 11
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalHardwareRev.69 = STRING: 1.1
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalFirmwareRev.69 = STRING: RAM 01.4C ROM 02.08
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalSoftwareRev.69 = STRING: 12.0
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalSerialNum.69 = STRING: CAB0428ALNR

ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalAlias.69 = STRING:
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalAssetID.69 = STRING:
ENTITY-MIB::entPhysicalIsFRU.69 = INTEGER: true(1)

Now, I have the feeling that translating all of this to a perl script
to feed data to mrtg will be much of a nightmare :-)

Thanks for your information.
