Memory leak or a bad PC?
Hello

I got this error today in my 3550 switch's log:

changed state to administratively down
Nov 19 11:00:38.907 UTC: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/18,

bytes failed from 0x161B38, alignment 0

Alternate Pool: None Free: 0 Cause: No Alternate pool

-Process= "Pool Manager", ipl= 0, pid= 5
-Traceback= 1A57D0 1A6DF4 161B3C 1B2BF0 1B2E38 1C6440

Nov 19 11:00:44.495 UTC: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: dtp-flap error detected on
Fa0/18, putting Fa0/18 in err-disable state
Nov 19 11:00:46.499 UTC: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/18,
changed state to down

Maybe it's a memory leak or the PC (Win2000) creates this error
which is in the Fe 0/18?

Do You need output of the "show tech-support"?

Hi,

It looks like a bug, but NOT with the windows box.

I put the "show ver" and traceback messages into the output interpreter
(stack decoder) and it thinks that it is this bug:
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/onebug.pl?bugid=CSCdz30206&Submit=Search

"CSCdz30206 - 12.1(13)E1: buffer leak middle pool due to Remote Console
Process"

And it is fixed in 12.1(13)E03 or higher.

Time to upgrade, OR, try and minimise telneting into the switch to do
config and commands...

Best Regards,
Mike Taylor
