New issue 1379 by inedi...@gmail.com: Problems with robots.txt in WP
Virtual Server
http://code.google.com/p/cherokee/issues/detail?id=1379
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a Virtual Server with the option vServers > New > CMS>Wordpress
2. Configure everything
3. Access to http://www.mydomain.com/robots.txt
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is (without being indented):
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Disallow: /wp-includes/
I receive a 404 HTTP code instead.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using Cherokee 1.0.8-5 under Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.6 (squeeze) (XEN VPS)
The problem is solved following this steps:
* Go to vServers > www.mydomain.com > Behavior>Paths /favicon.ico
* And delete the rule in "Full Web Paths" that says "/robots.txt"
* After that you have access to robots.txt
That's because Wordpress generates dinamically the file robots.txt, and the
file does not exist in the root directory of the Virtualhost. By default
you should NOT include the file "/robots.txt" in the "Fill Web Paths" when
creating a Wordpress blog.
In my opinion you wizard is broken since it gives a default configuration
that is not custum for the Wordpress case and it shuld be adjusted.
Thanks for you attention.
