[Bricolage-General] Mason SSI
I am testing Mason SSI by following suggestions in David's email to the
list - How To Make Server-Side Includes: Redux.

Both the PREVIEW_LOCAL and PREVIEW_MASON flags are set to 1 in
bricolage.conf file, but when I preview the include (clicking on URI),
the included Mason code is ignored and my include is simply displayed in
the browser.

Are there any additional parameters that have to be set? What am I doing
wrong?

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

Not sure what's wrong, what's in the includes? If they are Mason, that
code would need to execute in its own comp_root and such.

RE: [Bricolage-General] Mason SSI [ In reply to ]
Mike,

My include (called time.mc) is simply like this:

<h2> Time is <% scalar localtime %></h2>

I did not get to the deployment part yet, was just blindly following
instructions. When include is previewed, the url is
http://localhost/data/preview/lib/mason/time.mc, which I thought would
be "Mason enabled". Is the purpose of PREVIEW_MASON to allow just this -
Mason code work in preview?

Yes it is. What version of Bricolage are you using? If it's 1.5.0, it's
possible that this functionality was inadvertently broken when we
ported Bricolage to Mason 1.1x.

the same is happening to me.
i just went the way round looking at pages through the 'real'
development server in which we test templates:

all mason components as SSI are tagged with <%TEXT>

i'm using Bricolage 1.5.0.

RE: [Bricolage-General] Mason SSI [ In reply to ]
I am using Bricolage 1.4.6. By the way, how do I (and should I ?)
upgrade to 1.5.0? We are not in production environment at the moment, so
I have the luxury to use and test the latest and greatest. And of course
being a newbie (and doing weird things) to Bricolage helps in testing of
the less used features, so I wonder whether doing it on 1.5.0 may be
more helpful for the community.

Thanks,
Alex

It would, and you'll find many benefits to using 1.5.0 (though a fix
for your problem isn't one of them, sadly), including Mason 1.1x
support, increased speed, and a more responsive UI.

Alex,

If you are going that route, then I might encourage you to use what is
in CVS, using the instructions on sourceforge.

It does rock, I am using it in light production right now with no
troubles, but YMMV.

There are a number of unresolved issues in CVS right now, including
that make install is apparently broken. It'll probably be a week before
I can get to them, though.

OK, let me know when.

Thanks to all for help,
