[Bricolage-General] Positioning and PR for Bric.
I just scanned this article about open-source CMS:
http://www.zdnet.com/filters/printerfriendly/0,6061,2897730-92,00.html

There was no mention of Bricolage, which made me wonder how to go
forward with PR/Evangelism. The article linked from the main
bricolage.cc page has whetted my appetite for more.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for getting the word out?
Principal bricolage authors, are there certain functional targets that
need to be met before the trumpeting begins? Also, does anyone have
suggestions for how to position Bricolage in the CMS universe?

Cheers,
Mike

Interesting article, thanks for the link.

:-) The way to go forward in terms of PR/Evangelism is to tell
everybody you know about it, and show it (via demos) to as many people
as you can. I suspect that Bricolage wasn't mentioned in that article
because we weren't represented at the open-source CMS conference. I
shoulda been there -- sorry.

No, no functional targets, though I'm going to send a message to -devel
shortly discussing performance and reliability issues. As for
positioning, although I haven't used any of the software from the
so-called "big CMS vendors", my understanding from people I've talked
to who *have* used them and seen or used Bricolage is that it's largely
competitive with the commercial CMS products -- much more so than with
its open-source cousins. The eWeek review confirms this (though I wish
it mentioned *which* commercial products, and how we mop the floor with
them!).

So I would position it thus: It's for medium to large size
organizations that need to manage a moderate amount of content and have
the IT and hardware resources to run a large-scale application.

Make sense?

Regards,

David
