In Bricolage 1, elements containing multiple fields or subelements had "Edit" buttons that would navigate users down into the element, for as many levels as there were nested elements. The good news: Bricolage 2's new AJAX-y interface has greatly simplified the UI (yay!), so there's no more stupid subelement spelunking. The bad news: container elements still require that users click a little triangle before they'll expand to show an editable view of their contents, and nothing really indicates that clearly to users.
The twisty-expanding-triangle is a common enough design pattern, but it's not clearly linked to an edit action. Users now have to chain together two distinct actions: open, then edit. Worse yet, the word "edit" is used in the "Bulk edit" link along the bottom edge of elements, which could be confusing; by "could" I mean "is", as I observed users make this mistake in the first 15 minutes we demoed bricolage 2.
I'd like to request that a new link and icon be added to elements, just after the "Bulk edit" option, maybe a little pencil icon that says "Edit element" or something similar. All this will really do is call the same JavaScript method as clicking the little triangle to open up the element contents. Once open, the text should toggle to something like "Close element" or "Collapse element".
