Thanks for the reply, Jeff.
Using 'make chartables.c' yields a "make: Nothing to be done for
`chartables.c'." error.
However, looking at what you said, there may be a different problem altogether.
I know of at least one other person who had this same error. I ended up solving
it by downloading the 'pcre' package from SourceForge and copying the
chartables.c file into this directory and continuing the make.
I also just deleted the chartables.c file, ran 'make' and it completed
successfully.
