Warning F: failed to open logfile
Hi,

Here's the scenario:

Analog 6.0 on Solaris.

Analog application is here on the server /opt/analog_6.0/analog

My ~ directory is actually here: /u/2/j/jf2412/

In my ~ directory I have a symlink to the analog application.

In my ~ directory I have a subdirectory called 'logfiles'

Inside logfiles I have 6 subdirs, one for each webserver that sits behind
our load balancer

Inside THOSE subdirs, I have logfiles like these:

httpd.access.20080126 httpd.access.20080301 httpd.access.20080405
httpd.access.20080202 httpd.access.20080308 httpd.access.20080412

My analog.cfg file has this line:

LOGFILE /u/2/j/jf2412/logfiles/sorrel/httpd.access.20080105

There is a LOGFORMAT line BEFORE the LOGFILE line.

When I try to run analog from inside my ~ directory like this:

./analog -G +g./analog.cfg

I get this:

./analog: Warning F: Failed to open logfile
/u/2/j/jf2412/logfiles/sorrel/httpd.access.20080105: ignoring it

I cannot understand why!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Joshua

Joshua,

Have you checked the file permissions?

I'm with Alan on this - what happens if you do

head /u/2/j/jf2412/logfiles/sorrel/httpd.access.20080105

(and just to be clear - you're running analog manually, not from a
script?)

Re: Warning F: failed to open logfile [ In reply to ]
Hi fellas,

I shoulda mentioned:

File perms are wide open (I thought of that too)
And I did try running against one file by itself.

I'm always running it manually.

Re: Warning F: failed to open logfile [ In reply to ]
So, no more ideas, huh?

It's all quiet on the analog front..

It *is* strange, isn't it?

Running analog manually at the command line... File perms wide open...

Passing strange.

Well, analog just does a simple fopen(). If anything can read it,
analog should be able to.

What happens if you specify the logfile name on the analog command line?
