Re: Congratulations to accepted candidates for Google Summer of Code 2022 & Outreachy Round 24 [ In reply to ]
Hi everyone,

I am Ayan Sarkar, a B.Tech undergrad from West Bengal, India. I am
delighted to be a part of the Wikimedia Foundation for GSoC'22. As part of
GSoC, I'll be working on Wikimedia Commons App. My primary focus would be
to improve the custom image selector by making it easier for contributors
to choose images for upload and reducing the chance of uploading the
undesirable images to the Commons. For more information about the project,
please consider reading my post mentioned below.
*Post Link* -
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#GSoC%2722%3A_Improving_the_custom_picture_selector

Huge thanks to my mentors, all the Wikimedia Commons members and
collaborators, and all the members of the Wikimedia Foundation for their
continuous guidance and support.

Till now, it's been a great learning experience with Wikimedia Foundation,
looking forward to a really productive summer.

Thanks
Ayan Sarkar

Hi all!

I am Lalit from India. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in IT,
currently working as a Software Developer at Redhunt Labs.

I will be working on Extending the WikidataComplete plugin to enable data
donations, recommendations, and gamification. My primary focus would be
implementing a web service interface for data donations to help extend the
Wikidata knowledge base.

My mentors for the project are Dennis Diefenbach, Andreas Both, Aleksandr
Perevalov, and Kunpeng GUO.

I have learned a lot by interacting and contributing to the Wikimedia
community, feeling special to get a chance to give something back to it.
Thanks to my mentors and coordinators from Wikimedia for their continuos to
support. Looking forward to a productive summer ahead ^_^

Thanks,
Lalit

Re: Congratulations to accepted candidates for Google Summer of Code 2022 & Outreachy Round 24 [ In reply to ]
Hi, I am Nazia from Bangladesh. This is my first time participation in Outreachy and I am so exhilarated to be accepted as an intern to work with the mighty WikiMedia Foundation!! I will be working on developing a python library make the processing of Wiki-HTML-dumps more lossless and resourceful for the whole community.
Before this I was working as a Junior Machine Learning Engineer at a local software company - focusing primarily on NLP-oriented rnd. Over the whole of my undergrad and brief career, I have always majorly benefitted from the OSS community and these days, I am eager to contribute to this paradigm as much as I can.

And, huge thanks to my mentors, the coordinators from WikiMedia and all the other participants ,who all helped to solve the project problems and taught me so many things the past few months!

I can't wait to collaborate and communicate with you all in the coming days!!

Cheers!
