welcome to spf-deployment
Hi everyone and welcome to the SPF-deployment mailing list.

This list brings together a critical mass of elements in the
email ecosystem.

I hope to use this forum to share information on a business
planning level about how things are evolving in the antispam
standards space. I want this to be a relatively low-volume
list. The target audience is management.

In the coming weeks I plan to discuss the details of how
Pobox.com is planning to implement SPF on our systems ---
including our target deadlines and service levels.

In the meantime, news.google.com on "spf spam" turned up
this article about how AOL wants people on its whitelisting
program to start publishing SPFv1 records.

Dear Sirs,

Why may I ask am I getting emails about updating SPF records through
my email server at Lifeplus-Europe.com? Relaying through our email server
is prohibited and not authorized by anyone who does not directly work for
Life Plus Europe, LTD. Your answer in this matter would be greatly
appreciated.

Pardon me, but you are receiving emails from a list that someone at
your organization signed up for.

What on earth makes you think these messages are relays?

By definition, if YOU'RE getting the email, and it's YOUR mail server, then it's NOT RELAY.

Relay is if Mary uses Joe's mail server to send email to Frank, where neither Mary nor Frank are affiliated with Joe.

Matthew,

I am not affiliated and do not know any party included in the
original email. I want to know why I am getting this email. Life Plus does
not condone and takes a strong stance against UCE. This all seems shady in
my opinion and looks to be the forerunner of our email servers being
abused...a matter I take very seriously. I did not ask what the definition
of relaying was although I am glad that your salary is well spent on being
able to rattle off definitions. My question was "Why am I getting
emails..." from a UCE company when that email has no affiliation and should
not be be coming to our domain? A question you obviously and intentionally
avoided?

Re: welcome to spf-deployment [ In reply to ]
I think what my good friend is trying to say is that this is not a
UCE, it is a mailing list for an open source project. If you are
receiving emails, it is because someone has subscribed to the mailing
list using your email address. We don't send mail out randomly.

As stated before, if you don't want to be on the mailing list, it is
simple to unsubscribe (I know, I've done it).

RE: Re: welcome to spf-deployment [ In reply to ]
The SPF Deployment list is NOT Unsolicited Commercial Email. It is a
subscriber based news list about SPF, Sender Policy Framework. It is
neither commercial nor unsolicited. If you take UCE so seriously, then
read and learn about it Neil, at spf.pobox.org. SPF an anti "UCE"
measure. Did you know that some companies are now refusing to accept
emails if you do not have the proper SPF text record in your DNS zone
for your mail servers? You are on the list. If you don't want to be on
the list, then unsubscribe. Make sure you unsubscribe the correct
account. If you have any accounts that forward to your current account,
your unsubscribe may not work.

Your rude commentary is not welcome by me. I am only one of the
subscribers to this list who wants to be kept informed about the
implementation of SPF. I don't want to read your uninformed accusations
of mail abuse on a news group which is essentially about a method for
combating mail abuse.
