Can't re-learn
As you know, I've been struggling to get Bayes going. I'm real close now,
but now have a [new] problem. Each time I've advanced my understanding,
I've started over with sa-learn. Based on the counsel of this group, I've
done as follows:

1. Delete all bayes_toks, bayes_seen, and bayes_journal files from my
system.
2. Then when I next run sa-learn, it tells me it learned from the correct
number of msgs (400).

However, today I did the same thing - deleted all the bayes_ files.
However, when I ran sa-learn this time, the dots appeared rapidly, and it
said it learned from 0 of 400 msgs! There is nothing named 'bayes' on my
system anymore. Finally in newbie desperation, I even uninstalled SA and
reinstalled. Same problem!

Any ideas why I can't start over with sa-learn? Please......This is killing
me! Anyone remember when they were first starting...?

I guess it's because the directory designated to receive the bayes_ files
didn't have the right file permissions? IOW, it wasn't that it "already
knew" the msgs, but rather that it couldn't write the files. Could that be
right, or would I have received a WRITE ERROR of some kind if this was the
problem? I'll try again...

are you sure you have delete the old bayes files ? have a look at your
local.cf. maybe there is a bayes_path definition. look also into
.spamassassin of that user you are using, running sa-learn.

The first thing you need to do anytime there's a "what's going
on?" question is to run with -D. (warning: sa-learn -D will spew a lot
of output...)
