rsyslog 1.21.1 released
Dear All,

I have just released rsyslog 1.21.1. It is a maintenance release to
1.21.0. Most importantly, it fixes a memory leak introduced in 1.21.0.
There are also some other bugfixes present. Users of 1.21.0 should
upgrade to this release.

If you run 1.21.0 and experience(d) the segfault previously, please let
me know your results with 1.21.0 before upgrading. This would be most
useful for me.

Download and Changelog can be found on the usual places of
www.rsyslog.com.

I would also like to wish a great holiday season to everyone! Thanks for
your interest in rsyslog and all the good feedback provided.

All the best,
Rainer

Rainer:

I just got to work and I checked my rsyslog server today and it's
running happily. After upgrading from 1.19.0 to 1.21.0 I didn't have
those segfaults that were happening about every 3 hours. In fact
rsyslog logged just over 1.3g of logs in 3 days.

I'll update to 1.21.1 right now and we'll see how she does.

I upgraded to 1.21.0 december 19., and it's been up since (4h19m cputime,
134h process uptime). No segfaults yet. It hasn't been eating any noticeable
amount of memory either, so I'll probably hold off on the upgrade a bit.

Ah, thats good news! And, yes, if you don't see the mem leak it is probably better to hild off the update, so that we get some more information on the stability. The memleak occurs only when the internal message queue is full, which normally shouldn't happen. So there is a good chance you never see it...
