Just to let everyone know, I tried redefining FD_SETSIZE to SPAWN_NUMD to
255 and set concurrencyremote to 255, and it works just fine on BSD/OS
2.1. My earlier problem must have been because I was trying it from a
BSD/OS 2.01 system.
As a test, I had my computer, running qmail and single channel ISDN,
send 500 messages to our mail server, running sendmail. My side didn't
even blink; the sendmail server wasn't so lucky. It's currently at a
load of 125 and is crunching something awful :-)
Now that 255 works, I want more :-) If I could open 500 or 1000
simultaneous deliveries, my mailing list would just fly out the door.
How much design change is required to increase concurrencyremote to
something beyond 255?
