Secondary MX host
I have qmail running on my secondary MX host and sendmail on my primary.
I serve a number of domains with MX lists as follows:

@ IN MX 10 mail.notmine.com.
IN MX 20 smtp-relay1.synapse.net.
IN MX 30 smtp-relay2.synapse.net.

sendmail on my primary has notmine.com set to deliver locally. qmail on
my secondary has notmine.com in its rcpthosts.

The problem is that since I moved my secondary over to qmail, if
mail.notmine.com is unreachable I get in to a mail loop between the
primary and secondary.

I don't understand why this happens, but I've attached a sample sendmail
failure message.

Any suggestions on how to correct this (besides moving myprimary to
qmail, which is already scheduled :-) would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, that's all sendmail gave me.

Yes and Yes.

Yes. In fact, the secondary MX host is the primary DNS server for the
domain, and the primary MX host is the secondary DNS server :-)
