Mailing List Archive

Problems sending mail.
Hi all.

I've asked on irc, I've browsed the mailing list archives (a bit) and
tried for ages to make this problem go away;

I recently upgraded from 0.91 to 0.96, seemed to go smoothly until I
realised I couldn't recieve or send mail. Here's the setup;

domain: blah.com.au
mailhost: bitflux.blah.com.au (alias mail.blah.com.au)
workstation: moog.blah.com.au

I want to be able to recieve mail at <username>@blah.com.au, ie;
cactoid@blah.com.au, and send mail from moog.blah.com.au (using eudora)
using bitflux.blah.com.au as the mailhost.

now, after a bit of playing around, I can now recieve mail no problems at
cactoid@blah.com.au and cactoid@bitflux.blah.com.au, all my username
aliases work etc etc.

I'm pretty sure its gonna be something simple in one of the control/
files, I just can't find the right docs and syntax for these files, can
anyone point me in the right direction?

I have no problems sending mail from the mailhost itself, ie it just seems
qmail isn't allowing mail to come from moog.blah.com.au and go out. The
logs on the mailhost show the smtp connection, but that's it.

So, any ideas? I'm lost - the old qmail worked pretty much "out of the
box" but this one doesn't like me much.

Thanks for any help, and sorry if this has been asked 8 billion times
before.

Hmmmm.... You haven't really given us the *qmail* configuration you
already have, but I'd suspect that you need to set the RELAYCLIENT environment
variable from /etc/hosts.allow to allow your mail host to relay your
workstation's mail. This assumes you also have tcpwrappers. See the
FAQ for the complete configuration details.

If you need help with the configuration files, try "man qmail-control",
which cross-references the files with the qmail program that needs
each one.

If this *still* doesn't help, you might try giving us more details
(being really specific about what you mean when you say "can't
receive mail").

Hope this helps.
