HELP Please with sendmail aliases
Hi to all,

At work I have a machine running Linux 2.0.27 and qmail v0.96.
This machine acts like a mail exchanger for my other machines that
hide behind a firewall.

I used to have a large /etc/aliases file with a number of lines of the
form 'xxx@fage.gr: xxx@some-private-machine.fage.gr'.

xxx was not a user of the mail hub machine. With sendmail
and /etc/aliases mail to xxx@fage.gr would be relayed
correctly to some-private-machine.fage.gr.

Now with qmail I have put the qmsmac package, imported the
/etc/aliases database and created the /var/qmsmac/etc/compiled file.

I have stopped and restarted qmail more time than I remember.
unfortunately whenever somebody sends mail to

xxx@fage.gr they get a bounce message with the comment:

Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

What am I doing wrong? Please help, any comments are welcome
and if you need any extra info ask.

Thanx Lefty Kreouzis

I also looked at the qmsmac prog because I had a HUGE /etc/aliases. But,
I figured that was just one more thing to foul up on my mail server so I
resisted the temptation to compile it. Instead, I wrote a perl script
that takes /etc/aliases and creates the proper
/var/qmail/aliases/.qmail-something files with the correct permissions.
It was really easy, I wouldn't be shocked to hear there's already one out
there. Anyway, if you can't find one, I'd be happy to provide mine.
