CANNOT COMMENT BEYOND THIS : Two separate fiber cuts on major routes in US for CTL
Super bad timing. A crap situation and terrible timing. That's the 30000ft view.

The person that sent the public CTL notes has the right of it. Keep an eye out for similar from others.

This doesn’t come as a surprise to me for CenturyLink. We’ve had their IP services in Tampa taken down by simultaneous cuts between both Tampa and Miami, and Tampa and Dallas(!!). So, they’re clearly comfortable having no tolerance for more than one fiber cut across 1200+ miles of fiber.

Heres the bad news now... Going to take awhile...

*** CASCADED EXTERNAL NOTES 21-Apr-2020 18:58:04 GMT From CASE: 18573666 - Event IP NOC reports that at the first fiber cut location, the anticipated slack in the fiber span located in the secondary manhole for the south end of the span is unable to be used. As such, crews are making preparations to pull in approximately 3,000 feet of new fiber into a viable fiber duct. Preparations to the fiber span at the north end successfully remain ongoing at this time. Field Operations have provided a tentative estimated time to restore (ETTR) of 0200 GMT on April 22, 2020.

At the secondary fiber cut location, to expedite service restoration fiber crews will be performing a single splice point and splicing a temporary hand hold into service. Splicing efforts are anticipated to commence at 19:30 GMT.
