Netiron 5.7 feedbacks
LAB Tested 5.7.0 and 5.7.0a so far.

New VLL <-> LSP code works great.

Already have 2 defects raised for the router reloading unexpectedly, both due for fix in 5.7.0b.

Hello Tim,

Which platforms are you running your tests on ? What kind of LCs ?

Best regards.

We have both MLXe and CES platforms in the lab.

Testing with Gen 1.1 and Gen 2 cards in the MLX.

Hi,

And how is code performing with usual protocols (ie. IGP, BGP, MPLS, BFD, etc.) ?

Best regards.

Everything seemed ok.

But - I've only tested until I hit the first defect. We won't do rigorous testing now until 5.7b *shrugs*

If you run the 20x10G cards, you will need "snmp-server
max-ifindex-per-module 64"

Otherwise snmp is borked.

Hello Mathias,

What about core protocols (IGP / MPLS / BFD / etc.) ?

Best regards.

Re: Netiron 5.7 feedbacks [ In reply to ]
Anyone have any more operational experience with the X2 cards, either the
20x10G-X2 or 2x100G-X2? Any news on v5.7.0c's release date, or major issues
discovered in v5.7.0b?

Looks like v5.7.0c was released on the 12th -- has anyone deployed this, or
done any lab testing?

Hi,

Saw that. Waiting for 5.6g release (mid-june) which is part of the Target Path.

Still, I'm interested in hearing feedbacks from guys who plan to deploy 5.7c.

Best regards.

Re: Netiron 5.7 feedbacks [ In reply to ]
On a related note, I've been running 5.6f in production now for over a
month without any problems (BGP, OSPF, OSPF-TE, RSVP, BFD, LLDP, UDLD,
sFlow, etc..). There were quite a few defects resolved from 5.4e (what I
upgraded from), which were compelling enough to prompt the upgrade. Also,
autobw underflow, LSP load-sharing beyond 8 paths, and ACL sequence
numbering were nice features released in 5.5/5.6.

Are there known defects in 5.6f that you are waiting to be resolved in
5.6g? If so, do you have the defect ID(s)?

As far as 5.7c, it's really to get the X2 hardware support, which I've been
waiting on for seemingly forever. I don't have the luxury of waiting for
5.7d or later, unfortunately.

Re: Netiron 5.7 feedbacks [ In reply to ]
Hi,

Yes, DEFECT000541038 concerns ssh process and causes MP crash and failover on MLX platforms.

Targeted GA for 56g is estimated around mid-june.

Best regards.

Re: Netiron 5.7 feedbacks [ In reply to ]
Hi

I have it in my lab and it looks ok for our limited feature set.
The primary reason for us to upgrade is the SNMP issue.

If I don't hear anything alarming about it, we'll put it in production
in the coming weeks.

/Tias

And I got this configured by our SE. Thanks for the headup Youssef.
Brocade was, as always, unable to proactively notice their customers.

Hi,

That's exactly the feedback I got. This DEFECT also affects 5.7 train up to
5.7c if memory serves so watch out ;-)

Best regards.

We've had 5.7c running for a couple of weeks in production now and snmp issue has indeed improved.

Best regards.
