Controller dead - troubleshooting tips
Hey there,

I had one of my lab systems die on me a few days ago. Needless to say, there's no maintenance on it anymore, so if the outcome of this is that I have to throw it away, I'm fine with it although I'd like to find out what exactly is broken and I'm currently trying to get that information.
Takeover happened automatically, the node is now down and also its power is off, according to the service processor.
Whatever I try, I cannot power it on again - it remains offline.

This is a FAS2552 and we've already tried to reseat the controller, but that doesn't change anything.
The SP's "system sensors" shows an asserted "Controller_Fault" - but that's a big vague to me.

How can I best determine what exactly the problem is currently?

Thanks,

Hi Alexander,

Disconnect the nvram battery, reseat all the memory and reconnect the battery.

From the SP, go through the outputs of

events all
system log
sp status -d

That should let you know if it is repairable.
