Works for me on mythtv v31/fixes.
Please post the logs.

What I did:

M --> Scan for Changes
I --> Change Video Details --> Retrieve Details

I have unchecked Perform metadata update after video scan
in Setup --> Media Settings --> Video Settings --> Metadata Settings

Did a
M --> Scan for Changes
I --> Change Video Details --> Retrieve Details

Mythfrontend.log shows :
Adding : : David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive.mpg
Running Grabber: /usr/share/mythtv/metadata/Movie/tmdb3.py -l en -a DE -M
David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive
Running Grabber: /usr/share/mythtv/metadata/Movie/tmdb3.py -l en -a DE -D
246818

If mythtv does not find a video, you can check it on www.themoviedb.org and
edit the inetref in the Edit Video Information screen:
inetref: tmdb3.py_246818
Note: Not all themes support that, but the mythbuntu theme does.

For the Series / Episode naming convention, please stick to the rules
defined in

Roland thanks.
I just repeated I->C->R but did nothing else and metadata WAS found and DID load. Grrr. I assume the X - NOT FOUND was due to someone somewhere being busy. Thanks also for inetref I'll play with that next time
