how to skip a duplicate recording?
I have a few shows that I have recorded most of the episodes over the
years. I have missed a few. I've used the User Job sendTVtoNAS to convert
these to m4v files and have them on a NAS. So when that series of shows
starts up again on a new channel I tell the Mythtv database to forget that
program and start recording them again. Not really the case this time since
my database is completely new without history at this point.

So today, for example, 2 episodes are being recorded, but I already have
one of them on the NAS. What is the proper way to tell Mythtv to not
record one of them but continue recording the series when it's available?

I guess I could let the recordings proceed and then not run the User Job on
the ones that I already have on the NAS.

I do that in MythWeb. Under 'Upcoming Recordings', click 'Never Record'
for the episode you don't want recorded.

I can't help with achieving that in the FE though, as I don't use it myself.

The key phrase I was missing was Don't record THIS episode.  That only
affects the 1 recording. Actually found that wording in both
mythfrontend and mythweb.

The correct names in mythfrontend are:

1) "Do not record this showing" to just tell MythTV to not record that
episode at that time. If there are repeats later (in the near or
distant future), it will still record one of them.

2) "Never record this episode", which says that you never want it to
record that episode now or in the future. This is the one you want to
use.

Yes, (2) is the one I should use. I see that some of these series keep
recycling on different channels over the years and I'd like to avoid
redoing this editing.
