So the mythtv master backend is also a NAS for the house and does has
NFS and CIFS/Samba servers running. This is so any device in the house
can see those videos on the network. The Shield TV (Android) had
mythtv-frontend, Leanfront, and Kodi. I know Kodi can see those Videos
on the backend with just the network and not anything to do with
Mythtv.  I just put the Video and Music Storage groups in to point to
already existing directories that were networked around the house for
Kodi. Using Music and Videos on mythtv is relatively new for me so it
was added recently. I'm not a fan of the way Kodi does playlist so I was
looking into Mythtv's music option. I'm always playing with something.

The remote/slave backend has nothing mounted as far as networking is
concerned. So it can't see the Videos on the Master backend, as far as I
know.

Since you mentioned the mythfrontend and duplication elimination method
I thought I check what mythtv-frontend on Ubuntu shows for those video
counts. First I know the number of files in that directory is 168.  When
I use Mythtv-frontend -> Media Library -> Videos, all the Video count is
right except the one that shows wrong in Leanfront, "Hogan's Heroes".
Mythtv-frontend also shows double, 336 instead of 168. Since they are in
a list it's easier to spot. For example the first two videos listed are
both the first episode of the first year. The listings are:

"1x01 - The Informer"             Unknown in the description field.

"Hogan's Heroes - The Informer"     Full Description field with multiple
lines about the program episode.

It's odd how this happened. When you play them it's the same video. I
don't see it on The Big Bang Theory.

I just wanted to close out this discussion with a thanks to everyone.  I
got it all working and so it could be documented I put a post on the
mythtv forum in the raspberry category. So if I forget and want to do it
again it will be there https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=3928
