I just spent 2 days cursing the python geeks and trying to make progress (python is easy for the devs (I imagine) but it is hell on users unless you have the *exact* same system as they do)

SuSE Leap 15.1 and ansible give a working (With bindings) mythtv system. I'll see in July when I try to upgrade to 15.2 how that goes.

If you insist on Ubuntu then git and https://github.com/rpm-software-management/urlgrabber will help but pre built packages from the ppa do not exist yet.
ansible for 20.04 does not work (and having spent hours there I defer to more clever soles than I)

Short answer: There is no ppa for 20.04 and building is very non trivial

PS if you just want mythtv with no bindings eg python for metadata then that's easy (and front and back ends work)

Unfortunately it's not possible to use MythTV v30  on Ubuntu 20.04
because modern distros are switching to python3 and depreciating python2
or removing it completely so some of the required python modules are
missing. The missing modules from 20.04 are python-mysqldb and
python-urlgrabber.


It is possible to compile MythTV so packages in theory could be built
under 20.04 but the python bindings and many of the python scripts wont
work. Best to switch to v31 if you want to use Ubuntu 20.04.
