Just experimenting .
1. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 beta and then installed mythtv
v31 which installed mysql and mythtv and everything worked as expected.
2. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 beta and then installed
mariadb-server. which brought in version 10.3. Next I installed mythtv
v31.This worked as expected.
3. However, if you have a working v31 mythtv with mysql and decide to
switch to mariadb, I had issues. First I uninstalled mythtv, mythbackend,
mythfrontend, mythweb, etc. Then I installed mariadb-server, then mythtv
again. During mythtv-database setup I was asked a lot of user/password
questions that didn't work and repeated until canceled.
I'm not sure if it's possible to make the switch to mariadb after the
normal install of mythtv, but it didn't work for me. So I blew it all away
and started with #2 only. BTW no database to restore as this was a new
install test.
