Ubuntu 14.04 graphics acceleration

Friends

I have two front ends running 14.04 (likewise the back end) and for some
reason I can no longer get graphics acceleration.

The one I am working on as I type (a shorage of ethernet cables means I
only work on one at a time) is an Acer and the graphics subsyetem...

I literally just had this happen to me as well yesterday; Acer Revo 1600, Ion1

What I needed to do was to add the graphics PPA, and install
nvidia-340. I had been using 304, and something in one of the 304
updates broke acceleration - the initial frame would come, there would
be a 5 second pause, 1 second of video, etc.

To confirm support run vdpauinfo on the command line which should confirm
if VDPAU is enabled correctly.
