Depends on why you think it would be useful. I know your setup and there is
absolutely no need to unless you want to transcode for slow devices or slow
networks, eg your android phone on the road.

Yes I agree that I probably do not "need" it but it would surely raise
my geek rating (playing stuff remotely).

Assuming that the load on the CPU would only be minimal when not
actually transcoding I think I will give it a try.

Oh yes. But it is not open source (the Android App) is it?

Are there any alternatives for streaming other than these two?

Is kodi for Android any good? (I will have to delete something to
install it....). Is it capable of streaming from myth or from emby?

I was referring to the server, but yeah there is no point in the server
unless you want to watch on a small screen.
