Doubled up recordings
I have been getting both TV3 and TV3plus1 copies of Hannibal, tv4 and
TV4plus1 copies of Bob's Butgers among others.

But quite a few recordings are not doubling up.

Has anybody else seen this?

I normally set up my recordings as "this channel", so I do not see
problems like that. The usual cause is that the EPG has different
programid data, or if there is not a programid, then the subtitle
and/or description data is different. Use the I command twice on a
programme or recording to see the full data. If there is a "Programme
ID" shown, then that is what is used to decided to record or not - it
will only record if the programid is different. Otherwise, it will be
using the subtitle and/or description data to decide, as set in the
recording rule.

Agreed - the +1 channels are a sign that users still watch TV while it is
broadcast.

+1 is utterly useless for anyone with a proper working DVR, and only
slightly useful should your box have insufficient tuners.

Roll on streaming media, and we'll all be redundant.

They are not in HD, which is better for me.

I cannot perceive the difference (I have used two TVs side by side one
HD one not playing the same content otherwise) and it uses much less
resources.

But having both is a total waste...

Good point - I'm on satellite where they're both SD and so there isn't a difference. Its pure timeshifting there.

Re: Doubled up recordings [ In reply to ]
I find the +1 handy when I run out of tuners as I'm mostly Satellite only,
terrestrial often drops out, and with 2 tuners I have an issue if some
programs are on TVNZ + Mediaworks + Prime due to transponders.

The doubling up is a bit of a pain, I often tag "First Showing" which
seems to help.
